The correct use of a steam mop requires following a six-step process: "Pre-cleaning-Proper Installation-Fill with Water-Fully Preheat-Control Steam as Needed-Safe Finishing." Avoid direct steam spray onto the body, use purified water to prevent scale buildup, and it is suitable for hard surfaces such as tiles, wood floors, and bathroom fixtures, but not for carpets or moisture-sensitive materials.
1. Preparation Before Use
Cleaning and Installation Before using the steam mop, you must first sweep away hair, grit, and large stains from the floor to prevent particles from being softened by the high temperature and embedded in the mop fibers or scratching the floor. Then, firmly insert the mop handle into the main unit's slot, ensuring a "click" lock; align the mop head with the bottom groove and fasten it, then smoothly slip the four corners of the microfiber floor towel into the holder, ensuring no wrinkles. For some models, check that the silicone pad fits properly.
2. Water Filling and Quality Requirements
Open the water tank lid and fill with room temperature purified water or distilled water to the MAX mark. Do not use tap water (calcium and magnesium ions easily cause scaling), alcohol, or cleaning agents (they corrode the sealing ring). Actual tests show that after 15 consecutive uses of tap water, the heating plate can accumulate scale up to 0.3mm, resulting in a 40% increase in preheating time. After adding water, tighten the lid to ensure the sealing ring is fully embedded to prevent steam leakage during heating.
3. Preheating and Start-up Timing
After plugging in the power, turn on the switch and observe the indicator lights to determine the preheating status: a solid blue light indicates heating, a flashing yellow light indicates temperature rise, and the yellow light turning off indicates the water temperature has reached above 100℃ and the pressure is stable before operation. Do not use prematurely based on experience-if the temperature and pressure thresholds are not reached, the steam output will be insufficient, and the cleaning power will decrease by more than 60%. The preheating time for mainstream models is 3–4 minutes.
4. Cleaning Procedures and Material Compatibility
Wooden Floors: Select the low setting, with steam output lasting approximately 12 seconds per cycle. Maintain a pushing speed of 30-40 cm per second, avoiding prolonged lingering in the same area to prevent deformation due to high temperatures.
Tile/Stone: Use the high setting, with steam output lasting approximately 20 seconds per cycle. You can spray a specific spot for 3 seconds before wiping horizontally for efficient emulsification of oil stains.
Fabric Sofas and Curtains: Use the dedicated brush head, keeping the steam nozzle 1-2 cm away from the surface to avoid over-wetting.
